The piercing cry of a fire alarm shocked the residents of 2313 Barrett Place Ct. early Saturday morning. Looking for the fire, they saw what looked like smoke at the back of the house. They called the Fire Department as a precaution and headed outside with their dog and infant son. Thankfully, everything was alright.
The Fire Department appeared with 4 trucks and a Chief. Initially, the Fireman were deceived by the heavy cloud cover, and believed that smoke was present. Not willing to take a chance, they inspected every inch of the two-story home and had the hose inside the house and ready to go.
Fortunately for everyone, there appeared to be no fire. The Fireman in charge indicated that alarms can be triggered by surges to the electrical wiring in the house, often as a result of lightning. A "surge" was the likely culprit in this case.
Watching the Fire Department in action was something to behold. There was not a single moment of indecision. They are a well trained, efficient group. If something ever goes wrong in this neighborhood, we can all rest a bit easier knowing that these guys will be on the other end of the call.
