The Waste District Program starts on Monday, September 29, 2008. For our subdivision that means Thursday, October 2nd.
Here is the text of the letter from Veolia:
Dear Resident,
Welcome to the new District 4 waste program. We are excited to kick off this new program developed by St. Louis County to help increase recycling, manage waste disposal, and keep your costs to a minimum. Starting September 29, 2008 Veolia will be your waste hauler for all trash, recycling, and yard waste needs (yard waste is an optional service). Veolia has over 25 years of experience in the St. Louis area and we look forward to utilizing this experience to enhance your service.
Below is your new pickup schedule:
Basic Service:
Trash Day: Thursday
Recycle Day: Thursday
*Yard Waste: Wednesday
*Yard Waste is an optional service.
You will receive a bill shortly that will include your quarterly rate for your Basic Service. Please note that if you are currently a Veolia customer, you will be assigned a new account number. If you are interested in signing up for any *optional services, please see the postcard included in this packet. These must be postmarked no later than September 15 to ensure adequate time to add these services to your account. Any postcards received after the deadline will result in a two week delay. The optional services are listed below.

Our goal is to make this transition as smooth as possible. Please be patient, we anticipate high call volumes for the next couple of weeks.

Trash
- Place your waste container at the curb by 6am of your pickup day
- Basic service includes once a week trash pickup
- Household waste is limited to 210 gallons, check your rate sheet for the overage fee
- Customer owned containers must be in accordance with the St. Louis County Waste Management Code Chapter 607.070, or containers can be rented by Veolia, see price sheet for the fee
- Additional trash pickup is available at an additional charge Due to government regulations, unacceptable items are as follows: tires, paint, auto parts, animals, concrete, appliances containing CFC's hazardous waste, etc
- Garbage must be bagged or canned.
Recycle
- Place your recycle container at the curb by 6am of your pickup day
- All recyclable materials are "single stream", all recyclable materials can be placed in the same recycle bin together
- Remove any food waste from recycle containers
- Needles are NOT recyclable, they are considered hazardous waste, please do not throw needles into the recycle container
- The following list of materials are recyclable and can be placed in your recycle container together:
- Aluminum Cans
- Cardboard
- Office paper
- Plastics with the chasing arrow of 1, 2, 3, 4,5,7
- #6 plastic is NOT recyclable
- Steel/Tin Containers
- Aluminum Foil/Tray
- Junk Mail
- Magazines, newspapers, catalogs
- Glass Containers
- Gable Top Containers (eg. Milk carton)
- Phone Books
- Paperboard/Carrier Stock
- There is no quantity limit to recyclable materials
- 75% of household waste is recyclable
Plastic Bags are not recyclable.
Bulky Waste
- 2 bulk pickups per year are part of Basic Service
- Call Veolia Customer Service 48 hours before your normal pickup day to schedule your bulk pickup
- Bulk items must be placed at the curb by 6am on the pickup day
- 1 bulk pickup is limited by 5 items up to 60 pounds per item
- Additional bulk pickups can be scheduled with an additional fee
Yard Waste
- Yard Waste is an optional service at an additional fee, please call Veolia Customer Service to sign up
- Minimum subscription to this service is 3 months
- Yard Waste must be placed at the curb by 6am on your scheduled pickup day
- Yard Waste is limited to 300 gallons, and no bag that weighs more then 60 pounds, anything over this limit is subject to an additional fee
- Do not place yard waste in plastic bags, please use a container or biodegradable paper bags
- Limbs/brush must be securely bundled with a maximum of 18 inches in diameter and 60 inches in length with a maximum weight of 60 pounds
Appliance Pickup (white goods)
- This is an optional service and must be scheduled 48 hours before pickup
- Place your appliance at the curb by 6am the day of your pickup
- Appliances include: Clothes washers, dryers, water heaters, trash compactors, dishwashers, microwave ovens, conventional ovens, ranges, stoves, woodstoves, air conditioners, ice makers, refrigerators, and freezers.
Christmas Tree Collection
- This is an optional service, but if you subscribe to yard waste there is no additional fee
- Please have your tree to the curb by 6am on your scheduled pickup day
Senior Discount
- 10% discount is available to Head of Household senior citizen 65 years old and older
- Please call Veolia Customer Service to discuss this option
Billing Information
- Payments to your account may be done thru our website: https://www.billonline.com/veoliaenvironmental/login.aspx
- Payment is due 30 days from the invoice date
- Payments received after 45 days ·will be assessed a late charge of $5.95.
- Service will be DISCONTINUED if payment is not received within 75 days. When payment is received, a Collection Fee of $25.00 will be added to the following invoice.
- If your account is sent to 3rd party collections, a collection fee of 35% of amount owed will be added to resume your services.
- A $30.00 NSF fee is added for any returned checks, stop payments, or closed accounts.
Holiday Information
Our offices will be closed for the holidays listed below.
- New Years Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day (July 4th)
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving
- Christmas Day
If your trash, recycling, or yard waste collection day falls on or after a holiday listed above, your service will be pushed back one day. If your service is normally scheduled for Friday, it will be moved to Saturday. Your normal collection schedule will resume on the following week.
