Trustees Sign Off on County Land Proposal

Tuesday, August 19th, the trustees met with Matt Rankin from St. Louis County and signed off on the county's proposal to access our common ground during the construction that will eventually take place to widen Barrett Station Road.DSC07088

In short, our neighborhood will be paid $35,782.00 as compensation for the use of the common area, the removal of certain trees and plants, the removal of entrance signs, and the removal of two light poles.  (The complete details are available here.)

There are no new details on when the construction will begin.  The construction will be completed on one side first (east or west), and then the other, but the chosen side has yet to be determined.  Also undetermined is whether the construction will begin at Dougherty Ferry or Manchester Road.

In the end, some 30+ months in the future, we will all enjoy a Barrett Station Road that contains a middle turn lane and five foot sidewalks that extend continuously from Manchester to Dougherty Ferry on both sides of the road.  The homes in our neighborhood will actually be a few more feet further away from the road.

In the meantime, we will accrue interest on the funds provided by the county, until  such time as we are able to access the land.  The county will put down sod, but we will be responsible for landscaping the area and constructing new signage.  This represents a great opportunity for the neighborhood to upgrade the look of the entrance area, and we look forward to that project.

Please feel free to contact us if you have further questions regarding construction.
