Residents of Barrett Station Place received quite a shock in the early morning hours of Friday, April 18th. At 4:37 AM a 5.2 magnitude earthquake hit near Mount Carmel, IL. The effects were felt many states over, and by all residents of BSP.
Neighborhood seismographs sprung into action, windows rattled, and DVD's tumbled off the shelves. After about 30 seconds it was over and everyone could rest easy. Thankfully, the residents appear to be safe and sound with little to no damage to their homes.
For many, it was their first experience with an earthquake, and was both thrilling and scary. Most said they hope that's as strong as it ever gets here. We agree.
NOTE: Early reports that the quake caused the creek behind the Sifrig's house to temporarily flow backwards have now been disproven.
